Since finishing design school in ’93, I’ve led a creative lifestyle of work and play across action sports, tech, and music. I grew up as a military kid, 15 moves by age 15, with my formative years in Madrid and the Washington DC hardcore music scene. Through all of it I learned to read new rooms fast, sense what’s coming, and pick the waves worth catching. Those instincts come from living in enough different worlds to know how to move between them. With AI now commoditizing yesterday’s critical skills, the value of honed perception is seemingly compounding by the day.
A substantial part of my career has been serving as the creative right hand to founders. And along the way I’ve played key roles in building brands from scratch to acquisition, running design departments inside heritage brands, leading my own boutique creative agency and most recently delivering work at Fortune 50 scale.
Over the years I’ve always maintained a diversified collection of other creative activities that ultimately fuel my tank for focused and sustained design work. From my youth to today, I continue to doodle and draw all the time, surf and ride bikes religiously, and write, record and perform high-energy live music with my band The Crooked Stuff in the Bay Area and beyond.
The through-line across the whole arc is simply creative energy and all the thinking and doing that comes with it… I’m thankful to be in-tune with it all.
Five years of visualization and design work across the Fortune 50 landscape, on both the consulting and Song agency sides. Deck and storytelling simplification at scale, live doodles on client Zoom calls, creative direction, design execution, near-shore team leadership, and developing pitches that win more work.
Creative direction for the revered LA live-music experience agency behind Daft Punk, Beck, Blink 182 and more. I was hired to expand the agency’s brand identity and market positioning beyond their live show services. Also worked on live show design for the Calvin Harris Ibiza residency, French Montana tour, and Flume at Coachella. Four days before Coachella 2020, the pandemic shut the live music industry down, hard. Fun and super creative work while it lasted!
Served as a graphic facilitator for SYPartners and worked on numerous accounts for Cota Design, including: Kodak, Castlight and Project Lyme.
Creative right hand to founder Daniel Kushner. Expanded the brand system, launched the artist-focused Creators Network that served as a brand and product forcefield and key asset in BandLab Technologies’ acquisition of MONO.
Through my relationship with Butler, Shine & Stern, I worked on their Radio Shack account and also joined Mountain Hardwear on a contract role to help maintain the agency’s work from the in-house brand side.
Rebuilt the brand of a legacy mountain bike company. Built and ran the in-house design department across 200 bike models per year, including factory trips to China and Taiwan and a spec system that integrated all suppliers.
Built my own brand and product design studio in Sausalito, CA. Clients across outdoor, action sports, and lifestyle: Marin Bikes, GU Energy, WTB, US Ski and Snowboard, USA Rugby, and others. Acquired by Marin Bikes in 2008 and became their VP of Brand.
First job out of design school. Product and brand design at a high-end studio in Park City, Utah. Worked as the design assistant to the founder and played a hands-on role in the design, development, and launch of SoundTube, our in-house-born commercial audio speaker system that became the industry standard.

Now based in West Marin, I’ve been taking time post-Accenture to work on a collection of music industry tools and projects that use AI to do what once took a small design and communications team to support.
Meanwhile, I’m also looking to engage and collaborate with agencies, founders, entrepreneurs, enterprise consultants, brands, non-profits or any other entity in need of some creative energy and action. Remote work, yes. In-house, possibly. Good vibes, creative times, and solid work, always.
And, yes, visualization sessions! My pencils, markers and whiteboards are always on call to solve the challenge of the day and serve as bridges to bigger work. More on that here.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for taking a look. Reach out, anytime.
